Ghana School on Non-equilibrium Physics
Applications are open for the Ghana School on Non-equilibrium Physics at AIMS Ghana and University of Ghana, co-organized with ICTP. The 2-week school will provide lecture courses on fundamental and applied aspects of non-equilibrium statistical physics (including e.g. stochastic processes, transport phenomena, and neuroscience). Mathematical Statistical Physics School, May 10-21 2027, Les Houches, France
A Mathematical Statistical Physics School will be held in the École de Physique des Houches, France, from 10 to 21 May 2027. Following the Mathematical Statistical Physics schools organized in Les Houches in 1984 and 2005, this new edition will cover recent advances, over a broad range of topics. These include random geometry and conformal invariance, Kosterlitz–Thouless transitions and height models, disordered systems and spin glasses, graphs and combinatorics, non-equilibrium dynamics, ecology and evolution, sandpiles and cellular automata. The school is primarily intended for doctoral students, post-docs, and young researchers interested in these topics, although applications from more experienced researchers will also be considered. The conference will focus on fundamental and applied aspects of fluid and charge transport in extreme confinement, including (non-exhaustive list) nanofluidics, ionic transport in 1D and 2D channels, electrokinetic phenomena, molecular simulations, including machine learning tools, advanced spectroscopy and microscopy of interfaces, and emerging technologies for energy, filtration, and sensing. The RPMBT conference series (https://rpmbt.physics.indiana.edu) is intended to cover in a broad fashion the theoretical tools developed to tackle the quantum many-body problem together with their major fields of application. One of the main aims of the series is to foster the exchange of ideas and techniques among scientists working in the diverse areas of many-body physics.
The RPBMT-23 will present the Feenberg Medal Award, for firmly established work that has significantly advanced the field of many-body physics, and the Hermann Kümmel Early Achievement Award, to encourage and reward excellence in the field of quantum many-body theory for researchers within a period of 6 years form their PhD. The deadline for nominating candidates is 15 April 2026 and information is available at https://rpmbt.physics.indiana.edu.
The RPMBT-23 will be preceded by a 3-day School on Quantum Simulation, on Sept. 9-11, 2026, also open to students (Master, PhD and postdoc) attending the conference.
